The Key Ingredient
What is it that most raw-fooders in today's world get a lack of in their day-to-day life? This ingredient is so essential that we worry so much about what we're not getting in our food that we forget about what we're missing out in our lives in general - other like-minded people!
This element is something I seem to take for granted these days as I live in a raw environment, meet other raw fooders regularly through Total Raw Food events and visit or get visited by friends in the movement. And of course I live with Jess, the best companion to have in my opinion.
I actually went for one and a half years having not met anyone on this diet, until I caved in and went back to cooked for a few months, when I happened to meet Jess. This was certainly a turning point for me because I had finally met someone who was on my wavelength with similar interests and sense of humor, and it was the first ever raw food event I happened to grace!
The idea behind it is not getting to the point where we feel so isolated that we go back to bad habits just to fit in again, or due to peer pressure from family, friends and work colleagues. It isn't worth it to not make the effort and go out to meet people.
This is exactly why Jess and I have decided to host more events together. Sure she is the talker and the mover, but my passion for meeting new people and finding connections allows me an element of fulfillment, and I am always open to advising anyone that comes to the events how to do high fruit rather than the high fats (which people naturally take on board through more greens because greens just don't provide enough carbs and fuel), due to the fact that I compete in races and regularly set myself high standards in the gym.
This diet and way of life becomes really easy when you branch out and have faith in the Universe to repay your actions in the first place. It doesn't have to be a choir if we find inspiration through meeting others. And generally the people we've had so far and continue to welcome to the events are so tuned in and aware anyway, that the act of meeting others pushes them to make the next step in their lives, and to even influence others for the better.
So get meeting and feel free to use Jess and I as a catalyst for that no.1 potentially missing ingredient!
